RUM2021 RUM2021-EuroCentral CST Studio Suite
Abstract:
The presentation explains modeling and results of electromagnetic simulation with CST Studio to improve the shielding of connectors.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is an important topic for automotive connectivity products. Simulation of EMC effects on connectors is challenging since the ratio between data signals and allowed noise energy is large and the connectors environment needs to be modeled in an appropriate way. The presentation explains the evaluation of the shielding performance of automotive data connectors. Different modeling setups for characterization of screening effectiveness will be introduced. Results, benefits and limitations of the approaches will be discussed. A correlation to measured data demonstrates the importance of screening effectiveness simulation in the development process. The presentation concludes with a discussion of possibilities for reducing the simulation time.
