In connection with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, there is a lot of talk about the democratization of simulation and the merging of the various islands of a development process. The digital twin also only becomes real through the use of such a platform. However, individual users are also interested in the extent to which their own activities change. As a value-added reseller, we see it as our strength to support management in the realization of efficient development processes by means of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and to present and bring closer to the individual user the change in his working methods. For the latter task, we have picked out a simple, idealized example of a structural simulation in the context of this presentation.
In a multi-step process, a simple bag with an outlet is assembled, inflated or filled, and then emptied. Here, we switch between implicit and explicit simulation, using the deformed mesh of one analysis as the initial mesh or geometry of the following analysis. In this paper, the approaches in Abaqus Unified FEA and in 3DEXPERIENCE are compared. It is shown that the simulation engineer can definitely benefit from the merging of the islands.
