Stefan Hauptmann from the University of Stuttgart — SWE, spoke at the Simpack User Meeting 2007, in Bad Godesberg, about the simulation of wind turbine structural dynamics and how they are affected by turbulent wind fields and controller dynamics, presenting how this was handled via a 2-step approach:
Step 1:
- Analysis of the entire system and
- The calculation at the interconnection points
Step 2:
- Component analysis
- High level of detail
- Quasi-static / partly dynamic
- Load cases are derived from step 1 calculations
To find out more about the findings, read the presentation “Simulation of Wind Turbine Structural Dynamics Affected by Turbulent Wind Fields and Controller Dynamics”.
