With volatile energy prices and increasing awareness of the climate crisis, wind power is a rapidly growing industry. As turbines become larger and move into more challenging environments, such as offshore, understanding their dynamics is more critical than ever. From the rotation and vibration of individual gears within the drivetrain to the oscillation of giant blades, there are many motion and multibody dynamics problems to solve in order to create a successful turbine design.
This newsletter focuses on the motion and multibody system (MBS) simulation challenges of wind turbine engineering. Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA recently hosted the 5th Wind Turbine & Drivetrain Conference. Two days' worth of recordings is now available, covering technical topics from across the world of wind turbine simulation. In addition, you'll also find a talk from our Wind Energy Executive, Industry Process Expert @SM, from the MODSIM Conference. The SIMULIA Community also has a new Topic of Interest page about wind turbines, collecting all our materials on the subject.
Those not working in the wind industry are also catered for by our new page on rail vehicle dynamics and a webinar about improving the automotive driving experience.

Train and Railway Track Simulation
Rail vehicles are complex systems and their performance is determined by the interaction of multiple components, including the rail-wheel-contact interface, suspension, bogies, couplings and other moving parts. Optimizing and understanding these interactions, is essential to ensuring vehicle safety, speed, reliability and comfort.
