Welcome to the first SIMULIA Fluids newsletter of 2023. In this edition, we are focusing on the latest release of the SIMULIA Fluid R2023x portfolio, and new features inPowerFLOW andXFlow.
PowerFLOW 2022 offers a range of new features — highlights includes Precise Wrap to close holes and gaps in complex assemblies with elimination of internal geometry to significantly reduce model build time, operations for repeatable automation, a new Single GPU solver, new features in DigitalROCK and Unified Slice, which simplifies and speeds up post-processing for large datasets.
XFlow 2022 focuses on lubrication workflows with specialized tools for providing quantitative predictions for results like wetted area and churning losses that can be very difficult or impossible to measure experimentally. It also introduces new GPU acceleration capability to unlock the power of simulation.
Alongside fluids-focused Tech Talks and blog posts, this newsletter features brings articles about designing more sustainable HVAC systems and simulating vortex-induced-vibration. In addition, it includes a link to our Tech Talk archive, where you can access all e-seminar recordings in one location and stream them online for free anytime, anywhere.

Simulating 3-Dimensional Vortex-Induced-Vibration (VIV) on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform?
Vortex-Induced-Vibration (VIV) is a well-known phenomenon caused by the interaction of a fluid flowing over a bluff body. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform can be used to perform complex coupled co-simulations such as Vortex-Induced-Vibration on pipelines. The interaction between the fluid and structural physics is controlled through the SIMULIA Co-Simulation Engine which provides advanced coupling algorithms that help achieve accurate converged solutions in an efficient manner.
