The SIMULIA Central CSE held its annual Regional Users' Meeting on September 27, 2012 in Chicago welcoming 62 customers and 44 DS employees. Preceding the conference was an "Advanced Seminar Day" in which various technical experts from the region presented on topics such as: Composites, Isight, CFD/CEL/FSI, Automation, Dynamics, Fracture & Failure, Geometry Import & Meshing, Rubber & Viscoelasticity and Client Care. Additionally partners from Safe Technology, Simpleware, Software Cradle and FE-Design were able to present on the "Advanced Seminar Day". The advanced seminars were followed by a customer reception where customers were able to mingle with each other and the Central staff as well as folks from SIMULIA HQ. The conference began on the morning of the 27th with a SIMULIA Brand Overview and Update given by the VP of SIMULIA Worldwide Operations, Roger Keene. Other SIMULIA presenters included Jeff Haan, Richard Steventon, Fabien Letailleur and Mark Monaghan. Customer presentations included MWH Global, Baxter Healthcare, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Zimmer, CNH and Miami University.

Following the conference the attendees enjoyed a nice dinner at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare followed by entertainment. Customers and DS employees were broken up into teams and given an unassembled bike with a challenge of putting the bike together as quickly as possible, but there was a catch! None of the parts nor tools were provided until the team answered various questions about products and company history! The first team to assemble their bike won and all of the bikes were donated to West Town Bikes. The over-arching goals of West Town Bikes are to promote bicycling in the city of Chicago, to educate youth with a focus on under-served populations, and to foster and serve Chicago's growing bicycling community.

The 2012 RUM was a huge success and could not have been done without the help of HQ and all of the customers who generously contributed their time and resources! Thank you to all that attended! We hope to see you next year!
