SIMULIA’s October desktop calendar features the visualization of pressure wave propagation around an aircraft. It contains both acoustics and aerodynamics fluctuations and is used to locate the noise sources and determine their main causes.

The image show two iso-surfaces of pressure fluctuations filtered around 1000Hz. Fluctuations with a greater pressure than the ambient pressure are shown as red and those with a lower than ambient pressure are blue. This plot is obtained by applying a Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) in time to the measurement file to transform it to the frequency domain and filtering all frequencies which are not in the frequency range of interest: 1000Hz. Then an inverse FFT transforms the filtered signal back into the time domain.
