December's featured simulation is of ‘3D streamlines’ around a car, which show the path the air takes over and around the vehicle. The lines are colored by the local velocity magnitude, so we can see where the flow is fastest, and where it is slow or re-circulating. The streamlines are red and smooth around the front of the vehicle, showing high speed attached flow. Conversely, you can see the streamlines are deeper in color (green, blues) and twisted in the wake of the vehicle, showing the turbulent wake.
