Simulation of Particle Behavior in a Double-Deck Roller Screen Using Discrete Elements in Abaqus

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to design and build a double-deck roller screen for a mining project. 🏭 That experience has always stayed with me, and I decided to explore it numerically using Abaqus. 💻

Roller screens are equipment used in mining and material processing industries to separate particles based on size. 🚜 In this system, particles move over a series of rollers, with finer particles passing through the gaps between the rollers, while larger particles are carried forward. ⏩ In a double-deck roller screen, this process occurs on two levels to achieve more precise separation. 🎯

In this simulation, I used Discrete Elements and the Particle Generation feature in Abaqus to study particle behavior and their interaction with the double-deck roller screen structure. 🧬 This simulation is part of the ongoing development of the model, and I am currently working on refining it further. 🔧

The attached animation provides a glimpse of this simulation. 🎬 I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this project. 🤔 If you have any questions or would like to discuss the technical details, feel free to reach out! 📩
