Abstract
In this investigation, an ESD-discharge is applied to a housing of a pcb. The pcb is included with one of its supply systems and decoupling capacitors. The decoupling capacitors are modeled with their parasitics and field coupling. Variations of the simulation show the influence of the proximity of the ground strap and the inclusion of the field sensitivity of the capacitors. With optimized setup the circuitry of the supply system is changed to minimize the interference at critical supply pins due to an ESD contact discharge.
