The first animation shows balls rolling in tracks that slope into the center. There appears to be an overall rotary motion but the balls always move in straight lines. The second animation is the track of the center of mass of all five balls in a plane normal to the direction of gravity. The simulation was run in Abaqus/Explicit. The first animation was created in the Physics Results Explorer app. The second animation was created in Abaqus/CAE.
