The U.S. Civil War meets 21st Century realistic simulation as Clemson University engineers work to save and preserve the Confederate submarine, the H. L. Hunley.   Lost for almost 130 years, the Hunley was the first submarine credited with the sinking of another warship, in 1864.   Teams of archeologists and conservators at the Clemson Conservation Center are using Abaqus to help excavate, restore and preserve the underwater treasures of the new found vessel.
