Python script to estimate CFRP properties using Tsai’s trace based theory

A novel invariant-based approach to describe stiffness and strength of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic composites has been recently proposed by Tsai and Melo* for carbon fiber reinforced laminated composites. Based on one dominate data E1, ply and laminate data can be established allowing simplified and easier design allowable generation. Based on the invariant-based theory, this script creates composite material objects and input files using only one test data: longitudinal modulus E1. It writes material data in the *Elastic, type=lamina/engineering constants/orthotropic formats. This is only applicable to carbon fiber reinforced laminated composites. The script can be run in Abaqus/CAE > File > Run script.
