Post process image saving of transparent body in CAE

Hi Everyone,

When saving images/animations from the viewer which include transparency in the model, the translucency is not rendered correctly in the saved image.

When rendering to file, Abaqus/CAE uses an off-screen context which, on Windows, forces the use of a software rendering context. The software rendering context does not support the graphics features required to provide nice looking translucency. There are a couple of work-arounds:

1. Use +C in the viewport window to capture the image and then Paste it into something like MS-Paint. From there you can save to whatever formats are supported. -> If the images are being saved as part of  a python script, taking captures for every frame might not be feasible.

2. Enable accelerated off-screen printing. Note: This is not enabled by default because it breaks Probe functionality for some drivers. To enable, add code like this to the abaqus_v6.env file: def onCaeGraphicsStartup(): session.defaultGraphicsOptions.setValues( accelerateOffScreen=ON )

Note: There should only be one definition for onCaeGraphicsStartup in an abaqus_v6.env file. If one already exists, add the above to it rather than creating a 2nd definition.

Thanks,

Preeti
