We were proud to have @LA and @MZ from thePolimi Motorcycle Factory (PMF) showcase their presentation called "Stress and Durability Estimation on an Electric Racing Motorcycle Transmission Shaft via Multibody Simulation" at the EuroMed SIMULIA Conference 2024, on June 11-12, 2024 in Milan, Italy.

Abstract:
Polimi Motorcycle Factory is a student team that takes part in Motostudent, an international competition between universities, with the goal of designing and manufacturing the fastest motorcycle prototype.
The scope of this study was to determine the dynamic forces acting on the transmission of our 2023 electric prototype by means of a multibody simulation carried out in Simpack to better understand the stresses that the shaft will withstand during the race and predict its fatigue life. This approach will allow us to design the 2025 transmission with a lower uncertainty factor, giving us the opportunity to exploit the lightweight design principle at its best.

Luca Ambrosini is a Mechanical Engineering student specializing in ground vehicles at Politecnico di Milano, currently in the last year of his master's degree. Luca is also part of Polimi Motorcycle Factory, where he is Head of Structural Analyses and Simulations.
Luca's interests cover structural and vehicle dynamics, as well as lightweight design and optimization. Luca is a kind and sensitive person who is following his dream of working in the motorsport field.

Marcello Zambelli is a Mechanical Engineering student at Politecnico di Milano, currently in his last year of bachelor's degree. Marcello is also part of Polimi Motorcycle Factory, where he holds the position of Head of Machine Elements Design. He's interested in motorsport, especially motorcycles and endurance racing.
