Abstract:
Polimi Motorcycle factory is the MotoStudent team from Politecnico di Milano. Our Aerodynamics department is at the forefront in the study of aerodynamic systems aimed at enhancing the performance of our prototypes.
The competition's regulations allow the implementation of active aerodynamic systems. For the latest edition of the world championship, an air brake was designed, which performance was assessed using the software PowerFLOW. This presentation will focus on the development of C-wings, whose optimisation process was conducted using the application FMK, employed for parametric analyses. The aim of these components is to streamline flows along the leading edge of the fairings to promote drag reduction and increase the efficiency and impact of the air brake.

Francesco Buffoli is a bachelor's student in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He has been with Polimi Motorcycle Factory since 2022 and became Head of CFD analysis in 2023.
