Recently, a major oilfield service company reduced costs and increased product performance using Rescale’s simulation platform. Needing to optimize the acoustic emissions environment for drilling scenarios, the customer ran large finite element analyses (FEA) with Rescale.

Setting up an analysis on Rescale’s platform took less than ten minutes, and after executing the job, 64 cores were dynamically provisioned within five minutes. When the customer ran the simulation in house, it took approximately 77 hours on 16 cores. The identical job ran on Rescale using 64 cores and converged in 17 hours.

During the analysis, 180 microseconds of acoustics were modeled per case and finished >75% faster than the customer’s in-house cluster. Running the job in the cloud with Rescale cost only \\\$864, saving the customer >\\\$6,000.
