Part 3: the attached video, about 20 minutes, shows a Failure Assessment Diagram (FAD) analysis to determine the critical crack size. The example uses 3D crack meshes and elastic-plastic Abaqus/Standard analysis to compute the crack front J-integral values needed in the FAD analysis. Refer to part 1 for information about the model and crack meshing. Refer to part 2 for information about the ductile tearing analysis. The example uses a nozzle in a reactor pressure vessel, and is based on a paper presented at the Science in the Age of Experience conference.
