Abstract: Virtual testing by simulations have become increasingly important in the automotive industry to help companies mitigate the risk of failing certification tests. This paper presents several industrial cases, following the industry standards set by the FMVSS, the NHTSA and the MASH. Virtual testing allowed to detect the potential sources of failure and to rectify any design flaws, avoiding the manufacturers’ substantial costs and significantly reducing their time to market


Bio: Benjamin Beckelynck is an Engineering Simulation Consultant and Virtual prototyping FEA & CFD specialist.  He has been with Optimec Consultants since 2016.  He holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, from IPSA, France, in 2013, has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from Laval University, Quebec, in 2016.  He did a research thesis about FEA of delamination on aerospace composite material for CRIAQ projects.  He has been a certified Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Technical Support since 2017
