Bio-EM in Life-Sciences ApplicationWe discuss how simulation can be used to analyze and optimize imaging equipment such as MRI coils and microwave imaging devices, implants such as pacemakers and sensors, and aid in the planning of tumor treatment such as RF ablation and hyperthermia. SIMULIA CST Studio Suite® can be used to calculate all types of specific absorption rate (SAR) quantities and contains a Multiphysics module with bio-heat solvers that can calculate temperature distributions including effects of living tissues such as metabolic heating, blood perfusion and human thermoregulation. | |
Introduction to Modeling and Simulation for the Pharma IndustryWe will survey a range of applications from the Pharma/Biotech industry where M&S usage is fairly mature and widespread, as well as emerging opportunities to harness the technology. We will provide examples of multiphysics simulation in the manufacturing process such as powder compaction, particle mixing, and clean room flows. We will discuss packaging simulations to optimize product integrity under environmental and handling conditions. We also introduce the topic of combination products and focus on drug delivery devices and processes which are becoming increasingly important for therapeutic efficacy and patient satisfaction. Finally, we will present a few novel and emerging technologies such as virtual human modeling, multiscale modeling, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification, which are beginning to transform the overall patient experience and are expected to grow in the future. |
