Non Parametric Shape Optimization of Electromagnetic Components using SIMULIA CST Studio Suite and Tosca | RUM 2022

Abstract

Parametric Optimization of Electromagnetic Components is one of the “work horse” tools for electromagnetic engineers since more than 20 years. While modern manufacturing methods like 3D printing allow then production of designs with very complex surfaces, the traditional optimization techniques limits the numbers of used parameters to describe the geometry.

This talk demonstrates how to link SIMULIA’s Tosca non-parametric-optimization suite with CST Studio Suite to overcome the this limitation. After a short introduction to the principles of the non-parametric-optimization, the entire workflow, starting with a parametric pre-step followed by a non-parametric fine tuning in Tosca is demonstrated in a live demo.
