As part of the R2026x FD04 user assistance, SIMULIA R&D created two 3DEXPERIENCE tutorials that teach you how to define and run fluid flow simulations for products that rotate. The first tutorial describes the multiple reference frames (MRF) technique, and the second describes the sliding mesh technique.
Completing both of these tutorials will teach you to:
- Create an MRF rotating zone in a steady-state analysis.
- Review force and torque results for the air in the MRF rotating zone.
- Create a sliding mesh rotating zone in a transient analysis.
- Review force and torque results for the air in the sliding mesh rotating zone.
- Compare these results to the output for the MRF rotating zone.
You can then apply what you learn from these tutorials to your own model and scenario.
To complete these tutorials, you must have access to the Fluid Scenario Creation and Physics Results Explorer apps.
To try these tutorials yourself, see Defining a Rotating Zone Using the Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) Model and Defining a Rotating Zone Using the Sliding Mesh Model.
Many thanks to @GT, @SK, @CH, and @MS for all their help with these tutorials.
