or: Fluid-Structure Interaction Application on Wind Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP) 

Abstract

The maritime industry is increasingly adopting Wind Assisted Propulsion (WAP) in response to international regulations, aiming to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. A fully automated and integrated workflow for the parametric design and optimization of rigid sails on commercial vessels is presented, entirely carried out on the 3DXPERIENCE platform. This integrated fluid-structure interaction (FSI) approach significantly reduces design times, enhancing efficiency while promoting more sustainable maritime propulsion.
