Mitigate Vehicle Noise and Vibration with Simulation | Bangalore RUM 2022

I am delighted to invite you to watch the live recording of the breakout track presentation that I, @EV held at Bangalore Regional User Meeting on May 17, 2022.

I am Emlin Vathsalan, Industry Process Consultant Specialist, part of WorldWide SIMULIA Fluids team. After graduating from University of Cincinnati, USA, with a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, I joined Exa Corporation (now DS, after acquisition) as an Application Engineering Intern in 2017. Since then, I have been working with multiple global customers from different industry segments through presales and services engagements leveraging the capabilities of SIMULIA Fluids.

ABSTRACT:

A quiet ride is just as important as a smooth, comfortable one, for ease of conversation, voice commands, and music playback. Reducing vehicle interior noise levels for driver and passenger comfort is a key concern for acoustic engineers, directly impacting consumer sales and brand loyalty. Traditional methods of testing tend to be extremely costly and inconvenient for rapid design refinement – by the time a prototype arrives for physical testing, it is often too late to make major changes in the vehicle’s design. In addition, wind tunnels and other forms of physical testing cannot always replicate real-world conditions. Simulation allows engineers to identify noise and vibration issues in the earliest stages of development and to modify their designs to improve performance well before creating any physical prototypes. SIMULIA offers multiple workflows for minimizing noise and vibration while reducing cost and development time. This live recording of the presentation covers some of the workflows to mitigate noise and vibration using virtual simulations.
