Magnetic Field Shielding-kHz
Still talking about kHz magnetic field shielding. Today we take a look at some parameter dependences in a three phase system. Each phase is driven with a 500 A current and there is excellent bonding of all shields. The magnetic field is measured at 10 cm distance to the center of the arrangement. How can we improve shielding?
Obviously, adding thickness or improving the material conductivity of the shield will improve the shielding. From Steel (1.4e6 S/m) to Copper (5.8e7 S/m) there is a factor of 40 in the conductivity, so improving conductivity is more practical than increasing the thickness. However, both will cost you money and weight. On the other hand, moving the wires closer together will reduce the magnetic field for free, even at DC. Therefore, make sure that you arrange your wires as symmetric and as close to each other as possible.
