Improved Simulation Example: “Submodel Analysis of a Driveshaft Assembly”

As part of the R2022x FD01 release, the 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Examples team improved the Submodel Analysis of a Driveshaft Assembly example to help you select surfaces for contact interactions more efficiently than before. Previously, the user assistance provided you with images of the selected surfaces to help you determine which surfaces to select. Since some of the assembly’s parts are thin and curvy, it was difficult to discern which surfaces that we intended for you to select based on those images alone. By introducing publications into the 3D XML file and by updating the user assistance to include the names of those publications, we alleviated this issue.

Publications are named references to geometric entities in parts, assemblies, or other representations. You can access these entities by clicking the corresponding publication in the tree instead of selecting the entity from the 3D area. Publications are particularly helpful when the entity is part of a complex assembly that makes it difficult to access the entity directly.

To complete this example yourself, see Submodel Analysis of a Driveshaft Assembly.
