RUM2021 RUM2021-EuroCentral CustomerPresentation Abaqus
Abstract:
Assessing the strength of components is still a challenge in practice, especially in the case of cyclic stresses. Although the stresses can be determined by a FEM simulation in Abaqus, other influencing parameters such as the size factor, surface conditions or deformation-mechanical support effects are also decisive for the component strength. With the strength verification defined by the FKM guideline exists a guided process, which allows the user to consider these influencing parameters according to the state of the art.
The presentation gives an overview of the strength verification with the FKM guideline. The scope of application and the main influencing parameters on the static and fatigue strength verification are presented. In addition, acquiring model dependent parameters like calculating the stress gradient from an Abaqus result are discussed. Finally, the automated implementation of the FKM guideline in Abaqus by ihf Ingenieurgesellschaft is demonstrated by means of an example.
