A four layer [0/90]s graphite-epoxy composite laminate subjected to an axial load is considered. A finite element model will be constructed using Abaqus/CAE 6.11-2 where the principal stresses in the respective plies will be analyzed. An analytical solution for this example can be found in Stress Analysis of Fiber-Reinforced Composite Materials, Hyer text, pp. 254-262.
