Abstract
As the pressure on available surface space increases and puts industrial development in competition with the preservation of biodiversity, access to the subsoil for the development of activities whose presence on the surface is not essential represents an opportunity to be seized. In this context, ECCUS designs and builds standardized underground spaces for industrial use (robotised production, computer centres, storage) to be implemented in existing urban or industrial areas.
The ECO-Cavern catalogue provides different sizes of structures according to the client's needs, integrating by default the necessary equipment for its operation (accesses, electrical supply, safety equipment and thermal regulation systems) at a competitive cost. ECCUS benefits from the full 3D Experience environment for the modeling and simulation of the ECO-Cavern in their environment, including parametrized design and on-site implementation, electrical design and automation, aero and geothermal design and optimization.
Presenter Bio
Benoît Cousin is a Civil Engineer graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), with a specialization in Energy. His field of expertise covers in particular the aero and geothermal behavior of underground structures and infrastructures such as transportation and industrial infrastructures as well as building foundations. He has been active in this field at first as a researcher and then as an consulting engineer. He is now a Director at ECCUS, responsible for the thermal management of ECO Caverns as well as the relationship with higher education institutions.
