e-Learning: SIMULIA 3DEXPERIENCE 2014x Physics Apps Tutorials - Meshing

A SIMULIA e-Learning Resource

Created using 3DEXPERIENCE 2014x

Hello everyone!

This is the first tutorial of the 3DEXPERIENCE 2014x Physics apps tutorial series.

What is the difference between a mesh and a FEM Representation?

Mesh

--A mesh is a discretization of the geometry into many geometrically simple nodes and elements.

--Necessary for a FEA program to perform a simulation.

--The number of nodes in an element will vary depending on the shape and order of the elements used.

Finite Element Model Representation

--A FEM Representation contains information about all the nodes and elements.

--The element formulation is not a part of a FEM Rep.

--The element type will be determined before submitting the job for an analysis.

Narrated Video

Below is a narrated video that shows how to create a FE Model in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and mesh the assembly using tools available in the Mesher.
