A SIMULIA e-Learning Resource
Created using 3DEXPERIENCE 2014x
This is the second tutorial in the series of SIMULIA 3DEXPERIENCE 2014x Physics Apps tutorials. In this tutorial, you will learn how to import and assign materials to parts. If you want to either go back to the home page or access the previous/next tutorial of the series, go to the bottom of this post to access the links.
Materials in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
Materials are PLM objects. There are two kinds of materials in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform:
- Core materials
- Covering materials
Core materials are used to specify constitutive behavior for simulations in V6. While core materials can be a combination of all the available material domains, the domain required for a simulation is the Simulation domain. Only one simulation domain can be associated with a core material.
Covering materials on the other hand, only specify visual characteristics; they do not influence the physical characteristics of the underlying material used in a simulation.
Narrated video
Below is an narrated video that explains how to import materials into the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and assign it to the different parts of the assembly. In addition, this video will also explain how to create section properties.
Supporting Files
All the files necessary to complete this exercise are available in the tutorial series' home page.
