e-Learning: Custom Toolbars in Abaqus/CAE

In Abaqus/CAE you can customize the location, contents and layout of toolbars. You can create your own customized toolbars, including the functions that you use most while interacting with Abaqus /CAE.  You can also create and modify keyboard shortcuts in Abaqus/CAE.

Now You try it!

Activate and deactivate various toolbars in Abaqus/CAE:

From the main menu bar, select View > Toolbars > Toolbar Name to change the visibility of any toolbar. Toolbars that are currently being displayed have a check mark next to their names in the menu listing.

 

Reposition various toolbars in Abaqus/CAE:

Click mouse button 3 on a toolbar grip to view a menu that lets you specify the location and format of the toolbar, as shown below:

 

Create a new customized toolbar:

  1. From the main menu bar, select View > Toolbars > Customize.
  2. On the Toolbars tabbed page of the Customize dialog box that appears, click Create.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, enter a Name for the new toolbar, and click OK.  Abaqus/CAE creates an empty floating toolbar in the main window.
  4. In the Customize dialog box, click the Functions tab.
  5. From the Module/Toolset list, select the Abaqus/CAE module or toolset to which your desired function belongs. Abaqus/CAE populates the Functions list with the available functions in the selected module or toolset.
  6. In the Functions list, locate the function that you want to add to the toolbar. Drag and drop the function over a custom toolbar to add the function to the toolbar.
  7.  If desired, add or modify the icon assignment for the selected function:
          --  Select a function from the Functions list of the Customize dialog box.
          --  In the Icon field at the bottom right of the dialog box, click Select.
          --  In the Select Icon dialog box, select the desired icon and click OK.
    Abaqus/CAE updates the icon for the selected function in all custom toolbars.


  8. To remove a function from a custom toolbar, click the icon on the toolbar and drag it off the toolbar. Release the mouse button to delete the icon from the toolbar.

 

Create a custom keyboard shortcut:

  1. From the main menu bar, select View > Toolbars > Customize.
  2. In the Customize dialog box, click the Functions tab.
  3. Select the Abaqus/CAE module or toolset to which your desired function belongs, and then select the function from the Functions list.
  4. In the Press new shortcut key field, enter the function key or key combination that you want to use, and then click Assign.
  5. The new keyboard shortcut appears in the Current shortcut field.
