Durability is the study of how long a part will last and fatigue is the mechanism of damage that causes durability failures.
Cycling loads are the most important contributor to fatigue failure, but material properties are just as important, and hand calculations can lead to mistakes or incorrect judgement. As a software solution, fe-safe has been used for years along with FEA solutions such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran and others. Along with other optimization and product integration software, fe-safe can be used to find a design that meets durability targets while still being optimal for weight/cost, etc. Training and Learning resources for new and advanced fe-safe users including introductory training material, workflow videos and workshop models are available right here in the community. Our other SIMULIA solutions for Durability in the 3Dexperience and for Fracture and Failure in Abaqus can be found at the bottom of this page.
