Each year our customers look forward to the Contact Update webinar, and this year we have provided the replay of the webinar right here in the SIMULIA Learning Community!
Contact modeling is one of the most distinguishing features of Abaqus, widely exercised by many of our users. Due to its complexity and highly non-linear character, contact modeling is continuously evolving. The strive for better fidelity in the modeling, robustness in the execution and ease of use makes contact a customary target of the development team. Abaqus 6.13 is no exception, and this webinar covers its new contact capabilities.
This presentation discusses:
- Beam to Surface and Beam to Beam contact in Abaqus Standard
- Adaptive contact stabilization
- Contact in perturbation steps
- Introduction of the Discrete Element Method
About the Presenter
Nuno Rebelo received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1980.For most of his professional life, he has been involved in both the software development and in the industrial application of finite element methods. From 1984-2001, he was a member of the development staff of the Marc and the Abaqus finite element codes, during which among others, he worked on contact algorithms, material modeling and stabilization methods. In 1989, he opened and has been the General Manager of what is today the Western Region office of SIMULIA. He also serves as its technical director.
