Abstract
Typically, climate chambers can efficiently test different environmental conditions, but at a high cost and quite late in the development process. This presentation outlines an analysis approach for a short-fiber reinforced plastic component subjected to temperature and moisture concentration changes to predict its long-term behavior. The underlying multiphysics investigation consists of a transient thermal analysis, followed by a temperature-dependent moisture diffusion study and a mechanical analysis sequentially coupled to the preceding analyses. This study mainly focuses on analyzing such complex behavior using Abaqus. A well-documented experiment was referenced to compare the simulation results with real-life data.
