CAD&PLM-embedded CFD inspiring efficient Heat Exchanger Designs

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Today I am excited to share this post about simulation-driven design of Industrial equipment enabled by cloud-based Fluid Dynamics Engineer Role ( DesignerCFD ) on 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Check out this video showing how seamlessly a Thermal Engineer using Solidworks Desktop (CAD) explores various baffle configurations to obtain higher heat exchanger efficiency with concurrent design and simulation approach.

This shell & tube heat exchanger consists of 150+ tubes held by helical baffles. The total mesh count in the thermal simulation model is around 35 Million elements ( fluid+solid), which is solved in less than 5 hours with the power of High Performance Computing (HPC) on cloud offered by 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Key takeaways:

- CAD& PLM - embedded flow and thermal simulation for Designers and Engineers

- Guided User Interface for quick and intuitive simulation model setup process.

- Advanced body-fitted meshing suite for accurately capturing conjugate heat transfer phenomenon between solids and fluids

- Handle large and complex geometries easily, and accelerate turn-around times for large models with High Performance Computing (HPC) on cloud, reducing IT costs while reducing time to market.
