The Additive Manufacturing Scenario Creation app (MDA) in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform helps users predict the distortions and residual stresses that occur during an additive manufacturing (AM) print process. The MDA app not only provides guided workflows to model sequential thermo-mechanical simulations for powder bed manufacturing processes but it also leverages the capabilities of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to allow seamless data transfer between designer apps from CATIA and manufacturing apps from DELMIA.
This document provides best practices for customization of the MDA app. We begin by describing its native capabilities and then describe when and how to write the required custom XML schema. Customization of Abaqus-specific user subroutines is beyond the scope of this work.
The target audience for this document is the Additive Manufacturing analysts, researchers, and process developers who want to deploy custom AM process simulations.
In this Best Practice, you will learn :
- How to setup analysis in the Simulia Additive Manufacturing Scenario Creation App (MDA) for analyzing custom AM Process simulation for which Abaqus AM user subroutines have already been developed.
- The details of enhancement to the Abaqus solver to model Additive Manufacturing Simulations.
