At a Glance: 2014 SCC Wrap-up

What did you miss? What do you want to see again?

The SIMULIA Community Conference is almost like a living, breathing entity. It requires nurturing, serious attention, and patience. Its development depends upon the users who so willingly devote large amounts of time to prepare cutting edge presentations, the planning team who ensures all of the logistics flow seamlessly, the technical teams who create and provide interesting content, among many other contributors both seen and unseen. While the SCC's lifetime is quite short - its legacy continues through memories and content passed on in numerous countries, industries and applications.

The 2014 SCC had a bit of a makeover in that many facets had never been offered in previous years. Tracks like the Technical Deep Dives, Optimization Forum, Meet-the-Expert sessions, the Living Heart Exhibit, Early Bird Hands-On sessions, Academic Poster Session and 3DS Playground all helped to enhance the conference and seemed to be quite a success - we even had an app!

As always, there were INCREDIBLE keynote and guest speaker sessions including:

  •  "Advanced Engineering and Simulation at adidas" - Dan Price, Ph.D., Sr. Mechanical Engineer adidas innovation team, adidas
  •  "It's Alive! Growing a Living Heart, O-matics or O-mics?" - Kumaran Kolandaivelu, M.D., Ph.D., and Cardiologist, Instructor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Medical Director, Clinical Research Center, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • "Computer Based Design Exploration & Optimization in the Aerospace Propulsion Industry - Pratt & Whitney Perspective" - Brent Staubach, Chief Engineer of Systems Optimization for Advanced Programs and Technology, Pratt & Whitney
  •  "Stretching the Limits - An Analyst's Journey" - Ted Diehl, Engineering Fellow at Dupont, Bodie Technology, Inc.

But, none of this could be made possible without the growing support of our users who submitted papers, attended, tweeted, followed us on Facebook, read our SLC posts, visited the website and so much more! Every little interaction helped to make the event the success that it was. We were excited to see that many of you attended the SCC for the first time ever and hope you'll be back again! This conference welcomed 356 attendees (not including Dassault Systemes employees). This is a 19% increase over 2013 and we cannot wait to see everyone next year in BERLIN!

Also, don't miss out on some of the exclusive content that will be made available to community members in the coming weeks!
