Analsis of mid structure of pipeline as a classical shell structure

Example: Shell modeling

Let’s take the example of a pipeline with a length of L= 0.2 m, an external diameter0.015 er m = and a thickness, 0.005 t m = . The material of the pipeline is steel with aYoung modulus 9 2 209 10 N/m s E = × and a Poisson’s ratio 0.3 ν= . Let’s model thispipeline using shell elements as the type of modeling element. In this model we willapply an internal pressure. The internal pressure value is: 100 kPa i P = . The pipeline isassumed to be fixed at both ends.

This example shown in video, leads you through the Abaqus/CAE modeling process by using the Model Tree and showing you the basic steps used to create and analyze a simple model.
