Albatross Engenharia: On the Analysis of Unsteady Aerodynamic Effects for the Replacement of the External Surveillance Camera of the Brazilian Air Force R-99 Aircraft | Americas RUM 2021

During the modernization phase of Brazilian Air Force R-99 aircraft, Albatross Engenharia needed to change the OIS camera, positioned under the aircraft cockpit, to a new model, bigger and wider than the previous one, and with some flat lenses, not presented on the previous model. Several PowerFlow analysis were used to verify the effects regarding drag and unsteady effects, including camera fluttering and buffeting, and served as input to structural simulations. After the simulations, a flight test campaign had been done and the vibration signature of the flight tests could be compared to the simulation predictions.
