Aeroelastic Simulation of Wind Turbines Coupling Simpack with ADCoS

The impact of dynamic gearbox behavior on the wind turbine components is substantial and is the subject of ongoing investigations. To gain a profound understanding of the influence gearboxes have on other components of a wind turbine, Simpack was coupled with the wind turbine load calculation tool ADCoS (Aeroelastic and Dynamic Computation of Structures), a simulation tool specifically designed for the aeroelastic simulation of wind turbines. This combination utilizes the specialties of both tools investigating the dynamic influences of the drivetrain on other components of a wind turbine. Further, the article discusses the realization of this coupling and its effect on the dynamic simulation of wind turbines.
