Advances in High-Performance Computing

Do you have questions about GPU and its applicability to Abaqus? How is HPC being applied to post-processing? What new hardware directions are being considered at SIMULIA?

Matt Dunbar, Chief Architect at SIMULIA, answered these questions (and more!) in his general lecture at the SIMULIA Community Conference (SCC). Key areas of interest in his presentation included:

  • The use of GPU for Abaqus Computation (Topics: Key code components, cluster and multi-GPU support, MIC, memory bandwidth, etc.)
  • Choices in HPC Implementation (Topics: Parallel scalability, GPU scalability, x86 parallelism and GPU, and Intel MIC)
  • High Performance Visualization (Topics: Next generation post-processing, visualization with models of up to 200 MDOF, etc.)
