This is an Abaqus/Standard quasi-static dynamic analysis of a shell structure (S4R elements) that is similar to a real balcony that I saw that had one corner unsupported. The structure is loaded by gravity. There is a buckled region in the simulation at the bottom left that is very similar to one in the real balcony. I don't know why the building designers would leave the corner unsupported like this.
