We're playing around with the tennis demo with the long-term aim of creating an off-the-shelf demo that someone could use in a grade school classroom.

We started by importing the Tennis racket and ball example problem from the Abaqus User Assistance Documentation (Abaqus > Example Problems > Dynamic Stress/Displacement Analyses > Dynamic stress analyses > Tennis racket and ball)

So far we have:

• Adjusted the Young's modulus of the material to find the lowest value that still returns the ball (rather than the ball going straight through the racket)

• Plotted the displacement of the ball (node chosen on the top of the ball)

• ▶️ Our Abaqus/CAE file is attached

We thought we might:

• Refine the mesh of the racket strings and the ball

• Modify the ball material properties

• Modify the string pattern

• Pretension the strings
