RUM2021 RUM2021-France 5G CST Studio Suite
5G implementation in industrial environment is becoming a very trendy subject, as 5G provides all 3 pillar for an efficient communication system, which are broadband operation, massive connectivity (increased number of users) and low latency. those features can be obtained all together by using antenna arrays.
Those antenna arrays have the properties of being agile, which means that they can adapt their radiation patterns according to the requirements. for example the radiation pattern could be focused on one area to increase the datarate, but it could also be pointing toward different directions in order to increase the connectivity volume.
If we consider again our industrial environment (a factory for example), the installation of the 5G access points has to be done very wisely. the aim is to use the minimum number of access points, that guarantees the coverage of all of the factory, while respecting several factors, such as satisfying the communication threshold, the exposure limit to human body, ensuring a continuous communication with static and moving objects like people, equipments and autonomous vehicles.
In this presentation, we will see how SIMULIA CST Studio Suite allows covering all of those topics, starting from designing and optimizing the antenna array, to the study of the antenna placement, where we see how the performance of the antenna array is modified by the environment. finally, the propagation scenario modelling and simulation are also shown. the different obtained result help us to assess the quality of the communication network and optimizing the number and the position (radio planning) of the access points inside the factory.
