Summary of 3DEXPERIENCE Stiffened Structure Concept app : Composite Laminates Parameter Guide
1. Overview & Purpose
- Definition: A solution that integrates the
Stiffened Structure Concept and Parametric Design Study apps to quickly configure design exploration studies. - Objective: To find the optimal thickness and material distribution across a structure by automatically testing various Laminate Compositions and Laminate Alternatives.
2. Two Core Approaches for Optimization
- Laminate Composition: Focuses on optimizing the internal makeup of a laminate.
- SS (Stacking Sequence): Optimizes the orientation (angle) of each ply.
- TL (Thickness Law): Optimizes the number of plies for each orientation and material combination.
- TR (Thickness Ratio): Optimizes the ratio of a specific orientation's thickness relative to the total thickness.
- Laminate Alternatives: (Available from 2025x) Focuses on selecting the best pre-defined laminate.
- Automatically selects the most suitable laminate ID from a list of candidates (library) for each grid cell. This is ideal for applying company-standard or pre-validated laminate sets.
3. Standard Workflow (6 Steps)
- Geometry Creation: Design the 3D Shape including the Grid.
- Model & Scenario Setup: Create the Finite Element Model (FEM) and define boundary conditions/loads.
- Sensor Generation: Define sensors for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as von-Mises Stress or Max Displacement.
- Expose Parameters: Activate composite input variables to be controlled in the Parametric Design Study app.
- Study Configuration: Define input variables, objectives (e.g., Minimize Stress), and constraints.
- Simulation & Analysis: Run simultaneous simulations and identify the best Design Point.
4. Key Features & Benefits
- Rapid Exploration: Eliminates the need to manually modify complex composite models; thousands of design candidates are generated and tested automatically.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Uses KPI sensors to ensure objective and quantitative selection of the best design.
- Solving Efficiency: Executes simultaneous simulations per core processor, drastically reducing the total time for massive design space searches.
- Seamless Integration: Provides a single-platform environment where design, simulation, and optimization data are fully connected without loss.
