Overview
“3DX-Extended Physics” is a 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Extension that allows a 3DEXPERIENCE user to enhance the native finite element analysis technologies in several ways via the definition of Custom Features, Generate Analysis Cases, Material Mapping, Utilities and Welding Assistant. A summary of these capabilities and licensing requirements follow. Additional deployment and user documentation, where available, is in the download package.
Custom Features
Custom Features enable the definition and execution of Physics Simulation containing Abaqus keywords not currently supported natively within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The currently available Custom Features include initial stress and temperature condition, submodeling, substructures, user-defined keywords and VCCT. A Custom Feature is defined within a Scenario application using a GUI and an External Solve is used to merge Custom Features into the Abaqus input file prior to solve. The provided External Solve may need to be configured for your environment. Sample user interfaces for substructure creation and use follow.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Mechanical Analyst and Assembly Modeling Specialist or Finite Element Modeling Specialist roles in order to use this functionality. An administrator user must have access to the Customization and Specialization Administrator role in order to deploy this functionality.
Generate Analysis Cases
An entire Analysis Case may be generated from an XML definition. This includes multiple loads, output requests, restraints and steps. Loads may be defined individually or in terms or load cases represented as a combination of load sets. Load cases may be utilized for nonlinear step types. Limited support for Analysis Case generation from an Abaqus INP file is also available.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to interactively create any features to be generated.
Load Case Manager Exchange with Excel
The Load Case Manager with the Functional Generative Design app can be exported to Excel where load cases can be defined for the Restraints, Loads and Thermal Conditions which are pre-defined. Once the load cases and features have been defined in Excel the data is imported back into the Functional Generative Design app.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Functional Driven Generative Designer role in order to use this functionality.
Material Mapping
Material mapping is achieved by assigning existing 3DEXPERIENCE materials to Physical Products based upon some reference file. Material mapping ensures consistent material assignment based upon the design material definition and reduces tedious work for analysts. Parsing functions are available for multiple types of reference file (CSV, PTC Creo, PTC STEP AP214, Siemens NX, Siemens NX with Granta) or assignment of a single material to all Physical Products.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Mechanical Analyst and Assembly Modeling Specialist or Finite Element Modeling Specialist roles in order to use this functionality.
Physics Method Usage Tracking
Physics Method Usage Tracking enables an incremental automation of vertical applications based upon usage. Database queries and hosted metric files enable updateable dashboards of Physics Method. Samples are provided which will need to be adapted to your specific environment and Physics Methods.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Mechanical Analyst role in order to use this functionality. An administrator user must have access to the Customization and Specialization Administrator role in order to deploy this functionality. Access to execute MQL and modify files located on the 3DEXPERIENCE server is required in order to deploy this functionality.
Utilities
Utilities are provided for: coloring Physical Products, creating a product structure from a 3D Part with multiple bodies and/or geometrical sets, renaming a Product Structure via CSV file, and saving the screen as an image.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Mechanical Analyst role in order to use this functionality. Additional licensing requirements exist for the generation of a product structure from a 3D Part with multiple bodies and/or geometrical sets.
Welding Assistant
The Welding Assistant significantly streamlines the process of creating a compatible shell mesh for welded structures. It includes the ability to perform batch automatic midsurfacing, generate a Finite Element Model and assign thicknesses to Line Fastener features. It may also be used only for batch automatic midsurfacing and meshing without any weld specification.
Licensing: The 3DEXPERIENCE user must have access to the Mechanical Analyst and Assembly Modeling Specialist or Finite Element Modeling Specialist roles in order to use this functionality.
