As we come to the release of the next version of 3DEXPERIENCE, I wanted to visit the topic of preferences. For cloud users, by default these are stored in a version-specific folder, so with the new release some preferences may well get reset to different values.
There are a couple of ways to make sure preferences can be updated through version updates. But in general, I recommend users set preferences individually so that they are aware of what and why they are changing these. As this only comes up each year for a major version change it can be easy to forget exactly what preference setting you may have had. So, I’ve recommended people keep some kind of document to track what preferences they change.
This works well for preferences where it is straightforward what they do. A good example would be the display units, where changing the setting changes what units the dialogs display.
However, there are some preferences where it can be harder to explain them in one line. You have to see them in action to grasp what they are referring to. At least, I had to.
So, I’ve started keeping videos to demonstrate what these preferences are and what changes they do. I thought I’d share them here as well in case anyone else finds them useful.
Generally, I break these down into major changes in the user experience. Then quality of life things I like to use that make working with 3DEXPERIENCE easier for me.
