Prior to 2025, the "best so far" material model for PA12 was summarized in this 2023 SIMULIA Community post:
Nylon 12 (PA 12, Polyamide 12) ; TLVP model This work used a TLVP model with the Darveaux creep law.
The Darveaux viscous behavior was added to the PRF model in the Abaqus solver in 2024FD02
The modified Darveaux viscous behavior was added to the PRF model in the Abaqus solver in 2024FD03
For 2026x FD01 the Darveaux and modified Darveaux creep laws have been added to the PRF model in the 3DX Calibration App.
The Darveaux and modified Darveaux creep laws allow for a much better representation of the typical thermoplastic stress-strain responses at a variety of rates. The typical thermoplastic response is shown in the image above, the stress-strain curves at various rates all tend to reach a horizontal asymptote. The Darveaux creep law captures this because it is really a viscoplastic law.
I summarized this new capability in a SIMULIA Community post:
Nylon 12 (PA 12, Polyamide 12) ; PRF model
