2025 SIMULIA Energy Day Presentation: Process Automation for Increased Simulation Throughput: Leveraging Integrated CAD and Simulation

The 2025 SIMULIA Energy Day was held in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, March 19. Our own Josias Bahena, MODSIM Industry Process Consultant & Andrew Fager, SIMULIA Infrastructure, Energy & Materials Industry Process Expert Senior Manager, presented Process Automation for Increased Simulation Throughput: Leveraging Integrated CAD and Simulation.

Abstract

In this talk, you will learn how Dassault's integrated CAD modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) approach can increase simulation throughput, allowing you to gain more and better knowledge about the performance of your equipment and assets.
At Dassault Systèmes we offer a unique portfolio of CAD (Solidworks & CATIA) and full-physics simulation software (Abaqus, PowerFLOW, fe-safe Simpack, CST, ...) for your design and engineering needs. Based on the unique perspective gained from our many years of developing CAD and simulation software, we will share our latest technologies, which streamline the connection between CAD and full-physics simulations (MODSIM). Topics will include:

  • Efficient processes for building simulation models from real-world data (e.g. laser scan point clouds
  • Automations that streamline model building (e.g. defeaturing, midsurfacing and meshing)
  • Automations that efficiently propagate CAD updates to simulation models
  • Design of Experiments (DOE) tools which enable large simulation parameter spaces to be explored
